Our Story: From Spill to Abundance, Our Mining Audacity

Our story begins where many see an end: in waste. It is driven by the vision of two Congolese experts, Obed TSHILOMBOJI MUYUMBE and Eddy MUKUNA KABONGO, who dared to leave the security of a mining giant to write a new, more responsible chapter for their country’s mining industry.

The Kolwezi Wake-Up Call: A Conviction Born in Remediation

It was during a historic forum on waste management in Kolwezi that the truth became evident to us. While others saw only problems, we, the founders of SPILL CONGO, saw an opportunity: to build a company dedicated to environmental remediation and management in the DRC. The journey back to Lubumbashi sealed our destiny: SPILLCONGO had to be born, in partnership with SPILLTECH, bringing solid South African expertise. The name was chosen as a commitment:

SPILL

to master and prevent polluting spills.

CONGO

to anchor this commitment at the heart of our nation’s sustainable development.

The Strategic Pivot: Seizing Opportunity in Challenge

Our agility was quickly tested and revealed to be our greatest strength. Following the wise counsel of the late Jean-Marie KABALE KALONDA, we secured eight mining titles. Then, the enactment of new mining regulations imposed a choice: specialize or reinvent.

 

We chose transformation.

 

Faced with this new regulatory landscape, we did not see a constraint, but a chance. With unprecedented resilience, we pivoted with agility to become a full-fledged mining player, making our environmental heritage the foundation of our new model.

is our promise: to gather this wealth in the DRC, with unwavering responsibility, and share it equitably among all stakeholders.

This is not a name change; it is a proclamation of our ambition.

His career is a testament to his profound expertise in corporate governance, strategic planning, and navigating the complexities of the natural resources sector on a global scale. Mr. MUYUMBE’s executive journey is marked by a proven track record of founding, capitalizing, and scaling multinational enterprises. He is the Founder and President of OTM SARLU, a pan-African venture he has strategically rolled out across 17 countries, driving the distribution of innovative, eco-friendly products and creating a roadmap for thousands of jobs. His deep-rooted experience in mining and resources is exemplified through his co-founding and leadership of SPILL CONGO SARL, where he orchestrated the strategic planning for a major gold mining venture, securing 246 mining squares and positioning it as a premier investment opportunity in the heart of the Congo Craton. His acumen extends beyond corporate boardrooms into the highest echelons of international policy, having served as an Advisor to the DRC President Felix TSHISEKEDI TSHILOMBO and Chairperson of ECCAS & SADC. In this capacity, he provided critical counsel on political and diplomatic strategy, shaping multinational policy to enhance peace, security, and economic cooperation across Central and Southern Africa. This unique blend of high-level governmental insight and hands-on corporate leadership enables him to guide companies through complex growth phases, manage geopolitical risk, and build sustainable, long-term value.

Through his previous executive roles, including Global Supply Chain Manager for a multi-billion dollar iron ore project with Exxaro Resources / DCM IRON CONGO and Head of Transportation for Tenke Fungurume Mining (Freeport-McMoRan), Mr. Muyumbe has honed a mastery of complex supply chain logistics, large-scale operational management, and organizational turnaround. Eddy MUKUNA KABONGO

Eddy Mukuna Kabongo is a visionary Congolese entrepreneur and a key architect behind SPILLCONGO SARL’s mission to integrate sustainable development and environmental responsibility into the African mining sector. His career, built on a foundation of a Law degree from the University of Lubumbashi, exemplifies a unique blend of legal acumen, sharp business strategy, and operational excellence, equipping him with a robust skill set for managing the complex financial and regulatory landscapes of emerging markets. Mr. Kabongo’s deep understanding of the extractive industry was forged through hands-on experience. He began his career as a trader in copper and cobalt, gaining invaluable, ground-level insight into the market dynamics and operational challenges of the Congolese mining sector. This practical knowledge was further refined during his tenure at Tenke Fungurume Mining (Freeport-McMoRan), where he was exposed to world-class standards in mining operations, industrial safety, and environmental management. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, he founded ENTECH SERVICES in 2011, growing it into a leading distributor of environmental products and safety equipment. His strategic vision for expansion led him to establish ENTECH SERVICES PTY LTD in Johannesburg, South Africa, a move that required significant financial planning and cross-border operational management to centralize procurement and logistics for the African market. This experience in building and scaling businesses from the ground up has provided him with extensive expertise in budgeting, cash flow management, and financial oversight for capital-intensive ventures in challenging environments. As a co-founder of multiple entities, including SPILLCONGO SARL, SPILLAFRICA, and the OKAPI Foundation for Sustainable Development, Mr. Kabongo has consistently demonstrated the fiscal discipline and strategic foresight necessary to steer organizations through growth phases while maintaining a core commitment to ethical and responsible practices.

Charles-Russell Tazz is a dynamic and accomplished operational leader who has rapidly ascended to a key leadership role through a proven track record of driving efficiency, ensuring compliance, and empowering teams in complex and high-risk environments across the mining, agricultural, and logistics sectors. Despite his youth, Mr. TAZZ brings a depth of practical experience to the role of Chief Operating Officer. His career began with hands-on management in artisanal mining and agricultural processing, where he developed a foundational expertise in on-the-ground operations, supply chain logistics, and stringent Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards. He further honed this expertise in a formal QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) role, where he was instrumental in designing training modules that reduced critical incidents by 30% and refactoring environmental procedures to meet ISO 14001 standards. His exceptional operational acumen led to his role with SPILL CONGO SARL, where he successfully managed complex logistics and optimized supply chains for mining prospection work, a critical effort that directly contributed to the company securing a Small Mine Exploitation Permit. His demonstrated ability to deliver tangible results and manage multicultural teams in challenging sites solidified his reputation as a reliable and effective operator. This proven capability culminated in his appointment as Director of Operations for Africa for a strategic partnership, where he holds the distinction of being the first young African to sign a continent-wide distribution contract for innovative, eco-friendly and health products. This role underscores his strategic vision and capacity to manage pan-African business development and logistics.
